ATK test fires final shuttle SRB in Utah

Alliant Techsystems (ATK) test fired the 52nd and last four-segment space shuttle solid rocket booster at their remote test site near Promontory, Utah, on February 25, 2010. Packing some 3.3 million pounds of thrust at maximum, the 2 min 4 sec test culminated a program begun in 1977. The test site is located roughly 30 miles from the nearest town.
